THE PERPETUAL SCHOOL BOYS!

By Prathap

Men in movies are meant to be perennially young. Some of our actors pushed the limits and took up the challenge of playing a school boy’s role despite being well into their 20s and 30s in some cases. Here are the few who have done it so successfully in recent times.

Silambarasan - Silambarasan was one of the few actors who could carry off a school boy's role effortlessly in Vallavan which released in 2006. He looked young, trendy and the fact that he decided to get rid of his facial hair only helped more.

Dhanush - Dhanush could play a school boy even after, say, 10 years from now. Such is his physique, muscular yet lean and his facial features never reveal his age. Case in point, Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002), Pudhupettai (2006) and the recent Moonu.

Jiiva – In the just released Neethane En Ponvasantham, Jiiva looked the part of a school going guy who even changes schools for the sake of his love. He also donned a school boy’s garb for his intense roles in Raam (2005) and Katradhu Thamizh (2007).

Suriya - It was hard work for Suriya who was well into his 30s to look like a school going teenager but he pulled it off to much jaw-dropping in Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). The lean, mean Suriya is still one of the highlights of the movie.
