Here comes one for the youth, a genre that is not really explored very often in Kollywood. From what it looks like, Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru (T4) must be a rom-com (romantic comedy). If one remembers right, the last movie to come out in this genre was the light hearted SMS which received its share of support. T4 is special because it comes from a lady director, Nandini, a rare sight in Tamil cinema. And what makes it even more interesting is that she has apprenticed with another successful lady director, Priya of Kanda Naal Mudhal and Kannamoochi Enada fame. Now, we know that T4 comes from a school of film making that has found its bearings in making light hearted romances for the youth.

T4 marks the debut of Sathyam Cinemas in film production. That is another point of similarity that the movie shares with SMS which had marked the entry of Vikatan Talkies into production. Starring ‘Anjathey’ Ajmal
  Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru
and debutante Rupa Manjari in the lead, T4 tells the story of one boy who has an uncanny knack of getting into trouble and a girl who has the uncanny knack of always being at the right place to get him out of that trouble. It is a very symbiotic relationship they share and the movie traces the graph of this unique relationship.

As said by director Nandhini, T4 is not a film that can claim much of novelty. Youthful romances have been played out on screen many times, but T4 will definitely stand out for its fresh treatment. Ajmal will be doing quite a few comic scenes which will be a departure from his Anjathey ‘Kiruba’ image. Rupa Manjari makes her debut as the heroine. Mouli and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan are also part of the cast. Music by Mani Sharma is likely to be a vital aspect of the movie.

If you have any doubt on the credentials of a debutante lady director then you will be surprised to know that she is a former gold medalist from the Adyar Film Institute. That’s why perhaps she has also been careful enough to make her film technically updated. T4 has been shot on the RedOne camera in a fully digital format. Let’s hope that T4 turns out to be a treat for the youth.
