They are two legends and are synonymous with movies that boast of the best of performances. K Balachandar and Bharathiraja are known to go to any extent to extract the required performance from their actors. There are tales of them even smacking the heads of heroines when they couldn’t get the expression right.

For all these reasons it should surprise us to hear that they are putting their acting skills to test. This when they have already attained the legend status. And when they decided to put their acting skills to test, we get the quirkily titled Rettaisuzhi, directed by writer-turned-director Thamira.

Rettaisuzhi traces the friendship of two village kingpins Balachandar, who is a hardcore Congress man and Bharathiraja who is a Communist party member. So whenever the village finds itself in the middle of troubles, the two jump in to solve the issues in their own style.
Rettaisuzhi also follows their petty squabbles, their friendship with the kids in the village and such like aspects. There also seems to be a love angle to the movie with the offspring of the friends who share a hate-love relationship fall in love.

Produced by Shankar’s S pictures, Rettaisuzhi also stars Anjali, noted Malayalam actor Sreenivasan, Manobala, Ilavarasu, Karunas and Jayachitra. Music is scored by Karthik Raja and the movie is expected to hit the screens this weekend.

Thamira shoulders the huge responsibility of maintaining balance between the two roles played by Bharathiraja and Balachandar. Besides, he will also be held responsible for bringing the acting skills of Bharathiraja and Balachandar to the fore, which we hope he’s done a good job of!
