Director Venkat Prabhu holds the distinction of recommending his assistant Sripathy to T Siva of Amma Creations, the producer of Saroja. Impressed by the story, Siva agreed to do the movie along with Sona, who is the co-producer of the movie. Sripathy has worked in two of Venkat Prabhu's films as an assistant and if sources are to be believed, the story of Kanimozhi was developed by him during his college days. Kanimozhi, as it looks, will be a feel good movie with importance to music and romance with shades of philosophy.

Jai is the hero of Kanimozhi. Jai is banking heavily on Kanimozhi as he is in need of a hit. With his last few movies not making much news, Jai would have his fingers crossed before the release of this one. The heroine of the movie is Shazahn Padamsee, who had acted in the Bollywood movie Rocket Singh with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Swati, heroine of Subramaniapuram, was earlier considered for the role but the director decided on Shazahn Padamsee in the end.

The producer of this movie needs no introduction. T Siva has produced nearly 15 movies in Tamil including Poonthotta Kaavalkaran, Chinna Mappillai and the more recent Saroja. The entire movie was canned in 96 days in 47 different locations. Another interesting fact about the movie is that dialogues have been recorded in live sound except for Shazahn Padamsee's voice, which has been dubbed. Cinematography has been done by P. Chidambaram and editing has been completed by KL Praveen and NB Srikanth.

Music will play an important role in the movie, according to sources. The audio launch was a grand affair with the function held at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai. While Chief Minister M Karunanidhi released the CD, the first copy was received by Vijay. The music of Kanimozhi has been well appreciated and has been featuring in the Top 10 for a long time.

Kanimozhi is ready for release after facing a lot of obstacles before the release. The post-production work took more time than expected and hence the movie's release was delayed. Then it was further delayed due to non-availability of proper dates. With the time ripe, a talented director and renowned producers, Kanimozhi has all the right ingredients to make it big. With Nandalala releasing with Kanimozhi, it will be interesting to see the fans' reaction this weekend!
