Just as Sundar C resumed his directorial duties, dropping off the actor's coat, his film in the lead Murattu Kaalai is gearing up for a release. Although it was supposed to be released in November 2010, owing to some financial hurdles the release was postponed and the movie is now seeing the light of the day. Starring Sundar C and the recently married Sneha, the movie takes its name from the Rajinikanth blockbuster of the eighties.

Directed by Selvabharathy, the movie is also supposed to be the remake of the Rajini film. Along with Sundar and Sneha, the movie also has Sindhu Tolani, Suman and Vivek in significant roles reprising the original. Srikanth Deva's music has five songs in the album. The movie is distributed by Ayngaran International.
