BAANA KAATHADI MOVIE PREVIEW
Behindwoods review board
Starring: Atharva, Samantha
Direction: Badri Venkatesh
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Sathya jyothi films
This might get a little philosophical: Life is like a kite and if the kite is unmanned, it lacks directions. With nobody to maneuver, it sways violently in the breeze and in the end might get tangled in an electric pole, or worse end in tatters. This philosophy somehow forms the crux of the Baana Kaathadi, directed by Badri Venkatesh that stars Atharva and Samantha in the lead.

Atharva is another star kid on the block; he’s the somber actor Murali’s son. His debut, however, was supposed to be another movie which was eventually shelved. Following which, Sathya jyothi films roped him for the serious love movie.

Atharva plays the youngster, in his twenties, hailing from Chennai’s Royapuram area. Not only is he stuck by the proverbial cupid’s arrow and falls in love with Samantha, his love also faces numerous gridlocks. The movie deals with his troubles and the way he tackles issues leading to the ‘happily-ever-after’ scene.
  Baana Kaathadi

From the outside, Baana Kaathadi’s story might sound like just another love story with bubbly looking youngsters in the lead, peppy music and interesting promos. But it’s only skin-deep, according to director Badri Venkatesh since the movie delves into the issues that a youngster will face lacking direction from his parents – referential of the title, Baana Kaathadi.

The movie is sort of coming together of the GenY, second generation producers from Sathya jyothi films Senthil Thyagarajan and Arun take the mantle, Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music, while Atharva plays the lead.

Samantha, who played the female lead in the Telugu version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, is cast opposite Atharva. She also appeared in a cameo role in VTV. Given her looks, this pretty little thing could give the Trishas and Tamannahs a run for their money and sleepless nights.

So Baana Kaathadi, with a supposedly relevant social message, releases this weekend. With no big releases this weekend and Endhiran a safe distance of atleast a month away, this movie has potential to emerge as a dark horse.
