Cricket, politics and cinema go hand-in-hand, especially in Tamil Nadu. With the upcoming Cricket World Cup, IPL Season 4 and elections, no movie director or producer is ready to release their films until May. But this is a boon for several directors and producers who are planning to re-release their films.
Surya Prabhakar, the director of the movie Tha, which earned critical acclaim but failed to do well in the box office owing to several factors such as shortage of theatres and heavy rains is trying to cash in on this.
The director says that he will re-release the film in February, as the theatres will be starved of releases at that time. He adds that he has tied up with a new firm for promoting the film. Tha is not alone in this race. Veteran director Bhagyaraaj’s Siddu +2 starring Shantanoo and Nil Gavani Sellathey, a thriller, are also all set for a re-release. With these films getting a second chance, the audience also gets to evaluate the film. Let’s hope that the good movies do well.
