Ponnar Shankar, a film adapted from the novel penned by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi several years ago is being directed and produced by Thiagarajan with his son Prashanth playing dual roles. The film is about two warriors who are still considered as the protectors in several villages even in the present times.
The inaugural pooja of Ponnar Shankar, which happened in 2009, was itself a grand affair and the sets erected for the film’s shooting will bring to fore that it is one of the costliest films of our times. Palaces, forts, temples etc., were erected for the purpose at the Valluvar Kottam for the first time, states a press note from the film’s producer.
