Protests against Rajapakse's visit to India

The President of Sri Lanka, Rajapakse is expected in India for a 4 - day visit on Tuesday. But Tamil groups all over the country are protesting his visit. The Tamil organizations have accused him of being a war criminal guilty of genocide. It has been said that he is responsible for the slaughter of Tamils numbering in the lakhs in addition to driving many away from their homes, prosecuting them, and having them placed in camps.

In Tamil Nadu, the MGR fan club members organized a protest demanding that Rajapakse be arrested and tried for his crimes. They were joined by director Manivannan and actor Sathyaraj. MDMK chief Vaiko who launched a protest march has been taken into preventive custody. With strong sentiments running so high, law enforcement agencies are on full alert.
