Members of the Dalit community gathered outside Satyam cinemas in Chennai to protest against the screening of Prakash Jha's Aarakshan, which has raked up the controversial reservation issue. The Dalits felt that the film was callous towards their sentiment and therefore ought to be banned. The film has already been banned in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and others parts of the country because it was felt that the film would stir up a hornet's nest and incite strong public sentiment.

Prakash Jha is dealing with the issue in court. In the meantime, the Dalits closer home are agitating for the removal of the film. It remains to be seen how the situation will be handled. Aarakshan has Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Prateik Babbar in the main roles.
