The most exciting part of Mexico City is the Paseo de la Reforma avenue. Authorities have identified the 100-year-old tree that marked the site. Officials said the decision was made because the tree could fall at any time due to its old age. The tree was cleared last week.
Speaking on the occasion, Mexican Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo said, "Experts have intervened but have not been able to save it. That's all. The palm tree is dead."

Following the decision of the authorities to remove the tree that had been a monument to the place for many years, the public there became very concerned. The people of this city are placing wreaths and hugging it and shedding tears. This video is currently spreading virally on social web sites.
The Mexican Government has said the tree will be taken by Nesahu to Coyote Nursery for treatment, after which it will be turned put out for exhibition by young artists.
