After days of criticism, the World Health Organisation's (WHO) chief slammed the US for politicising the coronavirus pandemic. He also warned US President Donald Trump saying, 'if you don't want many more body bags' end the blame game.

WHO slams Donald Trump for politicising coronavirus crisis

At a recent press briefing, WHO director general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made few scathing attacks and said "At the end of the day, the people belong to all political parties. The focus of all political parties should be to save their people, please do not politicize this virus. If you want to be exploited and if you want to have many more body bags, then you do it. If you don't want many more body bags, then you refrain from politicizing it."

WHO director further made an appeal to the world leaders stating that all leaders of all political parties should focus on saving their people. "Unity is the only option to defeat this virus. Without unity, we assure you even any country that may have a better system will be in trouble and more crisis. That's our message. Unity at the national level. No need to use COVID to score political points. No need. You have many other ways to prove yourselves."

WHO has currently become the target of President Trump for the devastating effects of the coronavirus which has claimed more than 12,000 lives in America.

Further in the press briefing WHO director blamed the media for "adding fuel to the fire" amid tensions from US after they blamed the WHO for being China-centric. Tedros also denied the fact that he was favouring China and thanked the US for its generous funding.

Earlier in the week, US President Trump threatened to withhold US funding from the WHO. "The W.H.O. really blew it. For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China-centric. We will be giving that a good look," Trump said.
