China, the starting point of the deadly Coronavirus, has reported 84,029 positive cases but there has been widespread skepticism over this figure.

Leaked Data Suggests China Could Have 640,000 COVID-19 Cases

Adding on, a database leaked from the National University of Defence Technology in the city of Changsha suggests that China could have 640,000 cases opposed to the publicy admitting number.

The database was leaked to Foreign Policy and 100 Reporters which carried out a brief analysis of the information it contains.

According to a report by Daily Mail, the datebase contains 640,000 individual entries taken from at least 230 cities in China.

Each entry contains latitude, longitude, and 'confirmed' number of cases at the location on a specific date ranging from early February to late April. If we assume that each entry contains at least one case, that itself would mean at least 640,000 cases of the virus.

While reporters are not clear as in how the data was collected, the university website says it used a range of public resources.
