Few images and videos have surfaced where coffins are being buried in a mass grave in New York City. With the spike rise in death toll due to the coronavirus, workers in hazmat outfits were captured stacking wooden coffins in deep trenches in Hart Island.

According to a BBC report, New York's morgues are so crowded that crews are digging mass graves on Hart Island, for bodies that have been unclaimed for more than two weeks. Meanwhile, officials say that burials are being increased day by day because many people have no families while few cannot afford a funeral at this hour.

As per the Coronavirus Resource Center at the John Hopkins University, United States (US) has now become the first country in the world to record more than 2,000 deaths in one day. While, New York has more coronavirus cases than any single country.

Highlighting about US as a whole, it has recorded 467,000 cases and about 16,700 deaths. In which globally there are 1.6 million cases and 97,000 deaths.   

Looking at the recent stats, New York has confirmed nearly 1,62,000, confirmed COVID-19 cases of whom 7,844 have died. While, Spain has recorded about 157,000 cases and Italy 143,600. Taking a look at China, where the virus emerged in 2019, it has nearly 83,000 cases.
