As the United States death count crossed 2,100, more than double the level from two days ago, President Donald Trump took to social media stating that a quarantine of the New York area to curb the spread of the coronavirus would not be necessary. He also asked federal health officials to issue a "strong travel advisory" instead.

Taking to his social media handle, Trump said that the advisory would be administered by the governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in consultation with the federal government. "A quarantine will not be necessary. Full details will be released by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) tonight," Trump wrote on Twitter.

Looking at the current stats, the US has now recorded more than 1,22,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, asked people not to travel except for essential purposes. Among most of the US cities, New York is currently having their health professionals exhausted while hospitals are desperately short of equipment and ventilators.
