As the world is reeling over the deadly coronavirus outbreak, Chinese markets have reopened and were also seen selling bats, rabbits, dogs and cats. As per a Daily Mail report, China has begun lifting the restrictions on gatherings after which hundreds of shoppers returned to normal life by running to a market in south-western city Guilin.
Scenes from the market were horrific, as animals were piled on top of each other in cages. The market was full of cats and dogs waiting to be slaughtered, while the unsanitary preparation of animals is again reportedly a common sight in Chinese food markets, Daily Mail further reported.
Earlier in January, China had ordered to shut down its wet-markets after reports emerged that coronavirus was first transmitted to humans via bats and other live animals sold there. But as China says it’s beaten the virus, the markets seem to have resumed back into business.
Highlighting about the first coronavirus case, that took to headlines, when it was traced in a market in Wuhan. Despite its outbreak, officials in China kept silent, even 33-year old Dr Li Wenliang, who confirmed on the issue but none trusted him. Sadly, he died of coronavirus later.
