MORE THAN 30 PEOPLE KILLED, 60 INJURED AFTER DEADLIEST ATTACK ON MINING COMPANY

In a shocking case, at least 37 people have been killed and 60 wounded in an attack on a mining company convoy in Burkina Faso.

As per BBC reports, five buses which were carrying staff of Canadian firm Semafo were ambushed. In this attack, a military escort vehicle has been reportedly struck by an explosive device before gunmen could actually know what is happening. 

This attack seems to be one of the deadliest attack on Semafo staff in 15 months.

Meanwhile, Security sources state that the death toll is expected to rise as a large number of people are still to be numbered. Ever since, Islamist insurgency has captured few of its areas Burkina Faso has struggled to contain violence that has spilled over the border. 

Hours after the attack, Semafo in a statement said that the attack on a convoy of five buses with military escort took place on the road to its Boungou mine in the eastern region of Est, about 40km (25 miles) from Boungou, and there were several fatalities and injuries, BBC further reported. 

After the two attacks in August 2018, the company updated its security measures near its two mines in the country, as well as the travel arrangements.
