Talks on BSNL and MTNL Shutdown, No official info yet

Reportedly the two public sector undertakings would be closed since finance ministry rejected the proposal of the department of telecommunications (DoT). It is said that the inability to allocate a massive investment of INR 74,000 crore on BSNL and MTNL had made the finance ministry to arrive at the decision.

The shutting down of the two public sector undertakings would affect the directly recruited employees including those from the Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS). The reports also suggested that the employees would be re-deployed to other departments.

On the other side, one of the twitter handles in the name of Ravi Verma who claims to be the All India President, All India Graduate Engineers & Telecom Officers Association. BSNL in his bio tweeted, "@FinancialXpress #bsnl_revival, b4 posting chk d facts.BSNL has around 24000 BSNL Recruited Engineers/MBAs/CAs/ICWAs/BTECH/MTECH  out of arnd 44000 executives and de r nt techcns but running d operns & Business.(sic)". Further, he tagged the managing director of BSNL, P.K. Purwar asking him for the words of assurance.
