There have been frequent power outages in many parts of Tamil Nadu for the past few days. Power outages occur in many areas for more than several hours, especially at night. Since its summer now,. people prefer remianing indoors mostly during the day. In such an environment, the general public has suffered due to unannounced power outages.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji said, ‘The reason for the power shortage is the non-availability of 796 MW power to Tamil Nadu from the central grid. While Tamil Nadu needs 72,000 tonnes of coal per day to generate electricity, the shortage of coal is the reason for not being able to generate enough electricity.

Minister Senthil Balaji has posted on his Twitter page in this regard. Of that, ‘796 MW’ was a shortfall in power supply due to non-availability of central set power.
