While we have seen films containing captions like 'Based on real Story', the recent real Lalitha jewellery theft in Trichy had the popular Netflix series Money Heist behind its planning.

Money Heist helped plan Trichy Lalitha jewellery robbery

Money Heist (La Casa De Papel) is a Spanish web series that is available on Netflix. The core concept of the series revolves around the biggest bank heist centred on the Royal Mint Of Spain. One of the pivotal characters in the series is "The Professor" who devises master plans for his team to carry out robberies.

Manikandan who was one of the men behind the recent Lalitha Jewellery robbery recorded his statement to the police officers after he was arrested. As per Vikatan report, Manikandan said that "Our boss 'Tiruvarur' Murugan watches Money Heist on Netflix regularly and he was the one like 'The Professor' in the web series". Further, Manikandan had said that Murugan lives his life inside a running van.

Reportedly, Thiruvarur Murugan's past proved that he used to execute successful robberies by digging holes. While it is said that Thiruvarur Murugan is medically ill, the police officers had set up a special team to nab him at the earliest.
