MAJOR FIRE IN THE CHENNAI SILKS AGAIN! - AT LEAST 2 CRORES GOODS BURNT

In a shocking case, a major fire broke out in the famous Chennai Silks store near Kovilpatti Municipal Anna Bus Station in Thoothukudi District. This store is a three-storeyed building which caught on to flames in no time. 

Famous Chennai Silk Store On Fire, More Than 2 Crore Goods burnt 

On an immediate call, firefighters rushed to the spot and droused the flames. 

According to Vikatan report, at about 3.30 am in the morning, heavy smoke erupted from the third floor of the Chennai Silks Textile Showroom. In a short span of time the fire erupted and huge flames were coming out from the store.

A guard who was standing nearby alerted the locals and informed the fire station. Kovilpatti Fire Station officials rushed to the scene and droused the flames. Before the fire fighters could reach the spot, the fire spread to the second and first floor, Vikatan further reported.  

Three vehicles were on the spot in no time and the fire was brought under control by 6:30 am.

However, it is said that about 2 crore rupees worth of fabrics have been destroyed in the fire. Few two-wheelers which were also parked in front of the store has come under the fire.  

The reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained but locals say that it was due to short-circuit. Currently, the Kovilpatti West Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident. 

This is not the first case where a major fire has broken out in Chennai Silks Store, in 2017 a similar one took place.
