Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, 22 April, reported 33 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases in the state 1629. Of the 33 new cases, 15 were from Chennai alone.

The state reported no death on the date.

The following is the COVID-19 statistics of Tamil Nadu as of 19 April:

Total number of passengers under home quarantine – 23,760

Total number of passengers in government quarantine facilities – 155

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 33 (23 government and 10 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 59,023

Total number of samples tested today – 5978

Total number of persons tested till date – 53,072

Total number of persons tested today – 5904

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 1878

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 662

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 27

Total number of active cases on date - 946

Total number of deaths till date - 18

Number of ventilators available – 3371

Number of isolation beds available – 29,074
