COVID-19: ONE DEATH, 76 NEW CASES REPORTED IN TAMIL NADU; ADDITIONAL DETAILS LISTED

Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, 21 April, reported 76 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases in the state 1596. Of the 76 new cases, 55 were from Chennai alone.

The state’s death toll rised to 18 after an elderly from Chennai succumbed to the virus.

The following is the COVID-19 statistics of Tamil Nadu as of 21 April:

Total number of passengers under home quarantine – 22,254

Total number of passengers in government quarantine facilities – 145

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 33 (23 government and 10 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 53,045

Total number of samples tested today – 6060

Total number of persons tested till date – 47,168

Total number of persons tested today – 5458

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 1917

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 635

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 178

Total number of active cases on date - 940

Total number of deaths till date - 18

Number of ventilators available – 3371

Number of isolation beds available – 29,074
