CHENNAI SUBURBAN ELECTRIC TRAIN SERVICE TO RESUME SOON; OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE DATE!

After six and half months, the Chennai suburban electric train service is all set to resume from October. Since March 25, all train services had been suspended in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus. 

As a sigh of relief, freight trains and special trains for migrant workers were earlier functioning on the basis of the relaxations made. 

With the recent update on the train service, as per Dailythanthi report, the suburban electric train service will start from October 7, according to the Southern Railway.

With suburban electric train service resuming, there will be 100 percent of the employees working without rotation from October 1. 

Earlier, more than 450 suburban rail services operated daily, but now trains will be scheduled to run 300 times daily. It has been announced that full service will be operating when required, Dailythanthi further reported.

So far, the Central Railway has not issued instructions for suburban rail service in the state. But the Tamil Nadu government is ready to allow suburban rail service for the common people to travel, as per Southern Railway officials.
