From now on the streets would be contained and restrictions would be imposed only if it falls under a coronavirus cluster in the city, Commissioner G Prakash told the media. In case of individuals testing positive, only their households will be put under containment.

Nodal Officer J Radhakrishnan said earlier that if an individual in an apartment tests positive, only the apartment would be put under containment and not the entire street.

Among the 4,882 positive cases reported on Tuesday, Royapuram topped with 828 cases followed by Kodambakkam 796, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (622) and Teynampet (522).  According to The New Indian Express’ report, Corporation officials in Royapuram said that the rise in number of cases is due to the slums in the clusters. They are also taking measures to control them.
