In what is the biggest spike of COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu, 527 people tested positive for the virus on Monday, 4 May, taking the total number of cases in the state 3550.

527 New COVID-19 Positive Cases in Tamilnadu, Chennai now a hotspot

Press Release by the State Health Ministry said most of the today’s cases are linked to Koyambed Market in Chennai.

The following is the COVID-19 statistics of Tamil Nadu as of 4 May:

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive today – 377/150/0

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive till date – 2392/1157/1

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 50 (36 government and 14 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 1,62,970

Total number of samples tested today – 12,863

Total number of persons tested till date – 1,53,489

Total number of persons tested today – 12,773

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 2662

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 1409

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 30

Total number of active cases on date - 2107
