"WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE CAPTAIN": YUVRAJ SINGH ABOUT LOSING INDIAN CAPTAINCY TO MS DHONI!

M.S. Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the best captains the Indian team has had the opportunity to play in the guidance of. Under Dhoni's leadership, India won both the 2007 T20 Cup and the 2011 50-over World Cup.

Under Dravid's captaincy, the Indian team was severely criticized for leaving the league round without even advancing to the next round of the 2007 50-Over World Cup. Back then, the Dravid-led team had great players like Sachin, Sehwag and Ganguly, but the Indian team could not win.

“I was supposed to be the captain. Then the Greg Chappell incident happened. It had become Chappell or Sachin. I was probably the only player who supported…that I support my teammate. This is what I heard,” Yuvraj said in an interview.

“I am not sure how true it is. Suddenly from vice-captaincy I was removed. Sehwag was not there in the team. So, out of nowhere, Mahi (MS Dhoni) became captain for the 2007 T20 World Cup. I thought I was going to be the captain," he added.
