Hours after former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted that India's orange jersey is the reason behind the Men in Blue's loss against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, a political war broke out to which she clarified saying that she was joking when she blamed the new Orange-blue jersey for the country's loss.

Orange jersey ended India\'s winning streak: Mehbooba Mufti

"Are such appalling statements intentionally being brushed under the rug? An innocuous tweet evokes strong reactions but why no outrage against this," Mehbooba Mufti said on Twitter.

As per India Today reports, Mehbooba Mufti highlighted how her tweet on the orange jersey got more traction than the statement made by the expelled BJP leader. "My tweet about India's performance (all in good humour) got more traction than a BJP leader asking Hindus to gangrape Muslim women," Mufti said on Twitter.

On Sunday June 30, after England defeated India by 31 runs Mehbooba Mufti took a dig at the Indian cricket team's saffron jersey. On Twitter, Mufti said that it was the new jersey of the Indian cricket team which ended the country's winning streak in the ICC World Cup match.

"Call me superstitious but I would say it's the jersey that ended India's winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019," Mehbooba Mufti had said.

Soon after Mehbooba Mufti's tweets, several politicians criticized and lashed out at her. BJP chief of Jammu and Kashmir, Ravinder Raina said Mehbooba Mufti's heart bleeds for Pakistan and that's why she spoke against team India's jersey.
