Voting indelible ink is known for its firm stain as it stays for weeks after voting. It is also used as a proof to show and know that the person has casted vote.

Voters allege that ink is easily washed off

In Karnataka, voters allegedly claimed that the ink was deleted after first wash. Multiple people are reporting this HPR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, etc which comes under Bangalore central. People claim after a regular wash the ink disappears. They are worried that anybody who has voted knows that the ink will wash off. People are questioning whether this could be used to cause fake votes or whether this was intentionally done.

During the Phase 1 elections people claimed that the indelible ink can be erased and The Quint’s CEO and co-founder confirmed it herself and the ink was deleted. People were sharing their before and after pictures to confirm their claim.

Though many other ways are available now to crosscheck if one has voted or not to avoid fake votes, this easy deletion of voting ink is disturbing.
