A motorcycle driver in Chandigarh was spotted spitting in public, while he was driving with a young boy. The traffic volunteers who were appointed by the Chandigarh administration stopped him as the incident took place within 100 meters before a traffic check point.
Since spitting in public is against the law and is also dangerous now, due to the ongoing pandemic, these traffic volunteers decided to teach him a lesson. They made the driver, clean the place where he spit.
A video shows Baldev Singh, a traffic volunteer pour water on the road where the man had spat. The man can also be spotted, cleaning the spot with his hands.
Prime Minister Modi had addressed the public last month through radio. He had then emphasised the importance of refraining from spitting on the roads.
"We always knew that spitting in public places is wrong. Yet, it continued in places. Now is the best time to ensure we do not spit," PM Modi had said. "This will increase basic hygiene and strengthen the fight against COVID-19.”
