Among the 23,000 plus COVID-19 positive cases reported in India, one fifth are related to the religious gathering at Delhi’s Nizamuddin. Soon after the identification of this gathering, and the spread of the virus, the missionary group's leader Maulana Saad Kandhavli was booked for culpable homicide and was also labelled as "careless and criminal". This was followed by a number of hate speeches, violence, and boycotting targeting the Islamic missionaries who are a minority in the country.

Tablighis are Turning into Plasma Donors to Save Covid Patients!

However, those who have recovered, are now the new ray of hope for the critically ill patients. News18 reported that from the 1,068 coronavirus positive Tablighis in Delhi hospitals, around 300 (who have recovered after testing negative twice) 190 in Narela, 51 in Sultanpur and 42 in Mangoli, have decided to donate plasma to the severely ill patients. As this is the holy month of Ramzan, Maulana Saad, appealed to coronavirus survivors to donate blood plasma. He further urged all Muslims to pray at home during Ramzan.

Last week, the Plasma therapy was performed on four critically ill patients in Delhi and their recovery has been impressive, thereby shedding some hope in this difficult time. After their successful history, Delhi’s CM Kejriwal has appealed to those who had recovered to come forward and donate their plasma. After seeking permission from the centre, the city will perform the therapy on more number of patients.
