The Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh Government, today (August 30), ruled that only Hindus should work in the Tirupati Balaji temple meaning that non-Hindu employees will have to quit their jobs. The temple currently holds 48 non-Hindu employees and a considerable amount of non-Indian employees.

The rule also goes in line with employees who have converted from Hinduism to another religion. “There are some employees in the trust who administer the temple and who have converted from Hinduism to another religion. It is their personal matter. No one can stop them from adopting another religion, but they cannot work in Tirupati temple,” Chief Secretary of the state said.

The Government has also ruled an inquiry into all the employees who are on duty at the temple.

Government sources say that the decision has been taken after some Hindu organisations expressed concern over increasing prosecution of the temple.
