The violence over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the national capital is taking the world by shock. Since February 23, the number of deaths has risen to 20 due to gun shots, clashes and violence.

From stone pelting to vandalism, the city has marked unrelenting violence for more than 24 hours in northeast Delhi. With these clashes, more than 150 people have been injured and areas like Chand Bagh, Bhajanpura, Gokulpuri, Maujpur, Kardampuri and Jaffrabad looks like a war zone. 

According to NDTV reports, last night, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval visited areas affected by the violence and met with top police officers. Meanwhile, Doval will also brief the committee of the situation. Amid this violence, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that "police could not do anything" to prevent trouble. He also suggested that "Army should be called in".

"I have been in touch wid large no of people whole nite. Situation alarming. Police, despite all its efforts, unable to control situation and instil confidence. Army shud be called in and curfew imposed in rest of affected areas immediately. Am writing to Hon’ble HM to this effect," Kejriwal tweeted on social media.

His post come hours after late night protests took place outside his home over the clashes in northeast Delhi.
