AMID COVID19 CASES ON RISE IN INDIA, GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL SHUT DOWN

Amid the deadly coronavirus outbreak and rise in number of positive cases in the country, a Delhi government-run hospital was shut down after a doctor tested positive for COVID-19.

Looking at the rise in the city, Delhi has 120 coronavirus cases, including two deaths so far. As per a NDTV report, the doctor, who worked at the Delhi State Cancer Institute may have contracted COVID-19 from relatives who had returned from UK. 

The hospital building's OPD, offices and labs are currently shut and are also being sanitized, said the hospital officials. Also, those who came in contact with the doctor are being quarantined.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain stated that "it is suspected that the doctor caught the infection from her brother and sister-in-law who had just returned from the UK. She had visited their house recently."

Highlighting about the cases across India, the number of coronavirus cases has climbed to 1,397 after 146 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours and 35 people have died so far, the health ministry reported.
