As per data released by the Central health Ministry on Friday, more than 23,000 positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported across India. Over 700 people have died due to the novel coronavirus. The death toll is lesser as compared to other large nations who are facing the outbreak.

Here are the highlights from the data published by Central government at 8:00 am on Friday April 24

Almost 17,600 out of the total number of affected cases are still active. These patients are currently under medication and are yet to recover. Over 4700 people have recovered after treatment.

Almost four-fifths of all positive cases get cured without availing medical care from hospital as per the information released by the World Health Organization.

Currently the death toll stands at 718. As per India Today’s report, the fatality rate in the country is around 3.1 percent.

Maharashtra has recorded the most number of deaths. Maharashtra has recorded 6,400 positive cases and almost 283 people have died due to the outbreak in the state.

The total count of positive cases exceeds 1,500 cases in Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Northeastern states are the least affected ones due to the pandemic. States like Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram stand as examples where only one case has been reported. Sikkim hasn’t registered a single case yet.

Even union territories like Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Lakshadweep haven’t reported any COVID-19 case.

Gujarat has the second highest death toll in India with 112 deaths and 2600 positive cases registered.
