‘Bois Locker Room’ was a chat group created on Instagram with almost 100 members, mostly young people from South Delhi. This group was created to exchange objectionable images of minor girls, morphed images and usage of abusive language.

\'Bois Locker Room\' Scandal takes a New Twist

'Bois Locker Room' scandal came into limelight when an Instagram user uploaded the screenshots and mentioned that she got access to some of the screenshots from the group. Within a few hours, it created massive outrage on social media and hashtags related to the incident were trending on all social media platforms for days.

Among the many screenshots that were shared, a screenshot of a snapchat conversation that mentioned about gang-raping a girl also came to the fore.

Meanwhile, the police team, who were investigating the scandal, on Sunday revealed fresh details, giving a new twist to the case. A comment about “Gang-raping” that appeared in one of the screenshots never belonged to the Instagram group’s chatroom.

As per reports, the screenshot comment, which was on much discussion, was made by a girl, who had created a fake account in a boy's name, only to check a boy's response with whom she was chatting.

"This alleged Snapchat conversation is actually between a girl (sender) and a boy (receiver) in which the girl is sending chat messages through a fictional Snapchat account named 'Siddharth', the police said.

"Using the fake identity of a male person, she suggested in the chat a plan for sexual assault, naming herself," Anyesh Roy, a senior Delhi police officer, told the media.

"The purpose of her sending such chat messages using a fake, fictional identity was to check the reaction of the receiver boy and the strength of his character, especially when someone talks bad things about her," Mr Roy said.

The boy did not take part in the girl’s plan and stopped communicating with the user on Snapchat. He also shared the screenshot to his friends and the girl. One of the boy’s friends shared the screenshot on Instagram when the “Bois Locker Room” controversy sparked the internet and the screenshots got mixed up.

Police did not file any case on these two persons involved in the Snapchat conversation as they are underaged and also, there was no intention of illegal conversion, but some IT Act provisions may get applied in the case since the girl created a fake account.
