The top companies who are considering to reverse the trend are HCL and Tech Mahindra, who are planning to get back nearly 20 percent of its employees on a rotational basis by December end.

Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra stated that about one-fourth of the company’s employees are already back in their offices across multiple locations.

According to an Economic Times report, HCL is reportedly operating with about 6 percent of its staff in the office. Apparao VV, chief human resource officer at HCL Tech said; "by December, the company plans to increase the number up to 20 percent, but will not surpass 30 percent in the future unless the coronavirus pandemic ends."

However, CP Gurnani, CEO of Tech Mahindra, stated that "about 25 to 30 percent of its staff were back at the workplace at several locations. The company is monitoring the number of cases and uses its app Mhealthy to observe the health of its staff."

Meanwhile, Gurnani feels that about 30 percent of the workforce will be permanently WFH.

As these two companies are planning to bring back employees, TCS, Infosys and Wipro want their employees in India to continue WFH. “We have about roughly 10 percent of the people working in office in continental Europe. In China and Hong Kong, we have about 90 percent of the people working in the office and less than 10 percent working from home,” Richard Lobo, head of human resources at Infosys, told financial daily.

Meanwhile, Wipro in a statement, mentioned that a decision on bringing back more staff in offices will depend on the coronavirus pandemic situation and customer requirements.
