ONE MORE FILM TO HAVE SAME-DAY THEATRE/ONLINE RELEASE

Two weeks ago, National Award-winning director Jayaraj released his new film Ottaal in theatres and through an online streaming portal simultaneously, thus lending the immediate reach of his film to an audience beyond those who visit the theatres. 

 

Now, looks like yet another movie is all set to follow that example. The upcoming anthology film Aana Mayil Ottakam, which has been written and directed by Jayakrishnan and Anil Sign, is expected to hit theatres on November 27. Rumours suggest that this film too will have a simultaneous same-day release both in the theatres as well as online. With yet another upcoming film taking on this interesting initiative, will filmmakers look to securing such a wide release for all their films henceforth? 

 

The pros and cons of such a move is still unknown, but it sure is an interesting experiment and we we can't wait to see how this will push the reach of films beyond limited theatre releases.
