“I AM NOT TIRED. I WANT TO DO ONE MORE MOVIE” - K.Balachander

The one and only Iyakkunar Sigaram, director K. Balachander, being part of Tamil cinema industry for the past 50 years, churning out over a hundred movies, is one of the most prominent filmmakers in the country.

Starting off as a theatre artiste, his plays Server Sundaram, Neerkumizhi, Mezhuguvarthi etc went on to get critical acclaim, with Neerkumizhi being his directorial movie debut. He went on to make path-breaking films like Arangetram, Aval Oru Thodarkadhai, Avargal and cult movies like Manmadha Leelai, Moondru Mudichu.

K.Balachander is credited for introducing about 100 new faces into the industry in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages and has been associated with famous actors in his theatre group like Sowcar Janaki, Gemini Ganesan and Muthuraman.

At the Behindwoods Gold Summit he was presented with the ‘Golden Legacy’ medal. He was happy to receive the medal, and shared a few anecdotes with the team.
