Be it AngadiTheru or Veyil both of them were considered to be Path breakers. “VasanthaBalan” being renowned film maker  for the different perspective what he perceive with the film making and Plot strikes again with “Aravaan”.  Adding to that list, Aravaan stands out for its Plot. Sometimes after watching a movie  you would be ending with Sundry  feelings. That was  absolutely what I had after watching Aravaan. Some parts of the movie were  brilliant while some felt unwanted even some parts were not clearly shown. To begin with the positive aspect of the film, the most significant  part of the film is the plot which is been never dealt in tamil cinema. Though, the overall crux of the story is about the death sentence, the treatment made in this movie is the one which receives special accord. “Vasantha Balan” has made several references for this movie and his ardent work is evident  in each and every frame .  The way the title “Aravaan” was explained in one scene , Karthik bgm, Siddarth cinematography,  Pasupathi performance adds  Concrete Strength to the plot.  Locations and angles in which the shots have been taken gives an awe feeling. The lyrics and Picturisation of Kalavu, Oore  Oore has been in well Accordance with the plot. Suspense factor in the movie has been dealt wise. Also the director was successful in creating an 18th Century Effect.

Aadhi has given his hear and soul, he fits this character but still his expressions were not so great in the Emotional Scenes. Especially the scenes in which he sheds tears doesnot create much impact. Graphics could have been better, Especially the important scene in which Aadhi Tries to save Pasupathi appears synthetic. Dialogues are  bit complex a subtitle in Tamil/English would have made the audience feel comfortable. Second Half is bit draggy- Maybe due to several songs after interval.  When comes to performance Tanshika role doesnot sound much Promising.  In one part of the movie Pasupathy Advices to Aadhi that he could have concealed his identity for about an year, But how Pasupathy knows his story is not shown in the movie. Aadhi belongs to a Village which is responsibe for  safekeeping people. But Aadhi’s decision to turn into an thief has not been  justified. The climax was abrupt and it fails to arouse Sympathy among the minds of the audience.

“Aravaan” proves the versatility of VasanthaBalan. “Aravaan” would have been better if some pruning in the sequences would have been done. Still its worth watchable for the amount of Reaping that has been made, the plot, Stunning visuals. Not as Pleasing as it Meant to be-Aravaan
