TITLE: Same storyline, but good at certain parts

MOVIE: ROWTHIRAM

CAST: Jiiva, Shriya, Prakash Raj

DIRECTION: Gokul

MUSIC: Prakash Nikki

PRODUCTION: R.B.Choudary

After delivering a power packed performance in his previous successful movie “Ko”, Jiiva is once again ready to roar the screen, but this time with an action venture. Though he portrayed an action role in his earlier movies like ‘Thenavattu’, here he tried something different where the hero finds the solution to the public grievances and atrocities in the society. Again Jiiva has proved his versatility that he can handle commercial film. This movie is being produced by his own banner ‘Super Good Films’.

 Story:

Shiva (Jiiva) a happy–go-lucky man is being taught good deeds, virtues and how to raise your voice during the times of difficulties by his grandfather (Prakash Raj). His parents (Jayaprakash and Lakshmi) want him to lead a peaceful life. Priya (Shriya) a law student and the daughter of a police official falls in love with Shiva and also his honest nature drives her uncontrollably. Her famous dialogue “Kannu poi solladu Shiva” drew immense applause from the audience. Since every action movie has its own bloodshed and violence this film also provides it but in a particular way that is untold. The first half seems to be lagging but it is compensated after the interval with twists and turns. And who wins in this battle forms the rest of the climax.

 Performances:

Jiiva is completely fabulous and has given a stupendous performance. He shows his brilliance in each character that he can portray it without any flaws. His versatility proves that he can strike a chord between both streams of cinema. Shriya after a long gap has tried her best in this film on par with Jiiva. But she could have been used better. The romance between the lead pairs seems to be cute. Prakash Raj is as usual astounding. Bollywood choreographer turned actor Ganesh Acharya has given a magnificent performance. Music by Prakash Nikki is average. Camera work by N Shanmugasundaram captures attention at certain places.

Verdict : If the script had been much more tight-gripping the movie would have created waves at the box-office. But anyway it is a new treatment given to an action movie.
