Hi all,

How often do we get to see a Tamil movie made on a photojournalist? After a lull period at the box office due to the World Cup fever, Ko hits the screens as pleasant morning sunshine.

Ashwin (Jeeva) is a photojournalist who works for a leading daily newspaper. Renuka (Karthika) and Saro (Piaa) are his colleagues. The movie starts off with a bank robbery and Ashwin’s photos help the police to nab the culprits. Ashwin becomes a sensation when he brings the darker side of leading politicians into limelight. Needless to say, Ashwin and Renuka fall for each other. Parallelly, Vasanthan (Ajmal) is trying to bring a revolution in the state by starting a political party with youngsters. Vasanthan impresses people with a lot of good acts and in one of their election campaign meetings, a bomb explodes which kills many people including Saro. Ashwin and others are convinced that it is the cunning work of the traditional politicians. They support and encourage Vasanthan, who wins the elections and becomes the youngest Chief Minister. But, a riveting climax with shocking twists and turns will leave you spellbound.

Jeeva has carried the role of a photojournalist with ease. He is so spontaneous and versatile throughout. His costumes are so refreshing and very pleasant to the eyes. Debutant Karthika and Piaa are not just eye-candies but have good scope to perform and they have done well. Kota Sreenivasa Rao, Prakash Raj, Jagan and Bose Venkat have aced in their small yet significant roles.

K.V. Anand has yet again proved his mettle as an intelligent director. He has maintained the suspense till the end and enthralls the audience with a stunning climax. His screenplay is quite brilliant and has handled the cast really well. Harris Jayaraj’s ‘Ennamo Yeadho’ is soothing to the ears and his background score is passable. Cinematographer Richard M. Nathan needs a special mention here. He has captured the songs that are shot at exotic locations beautifully. On the flip side, second half is too lengthy and needs some trimming.

Hats off to K.V.Anand and his team for making an earnest attempt to give us a neat refreshing entertainer.
