Naga Chaitanya has been selecting his scripts and roles that suit him the most. Has he made the right choice again with his new film Yuddham Sharanam produced by Sai Korrapati and directed by debutant Krishna Marimuthu? May be yes!

It stars Naga Chaitanya and Lavanya Tripathi in lead roles while Srikanth plays the antagonist. Yuddham Sharanam is a film that can genuinely stand to claim that the story is its real hero. It has some great emotions, breathtaking stunt scenes, and an intense crime plot.

The film perfectly piles up the suspense well enough to have you glued to your seats. At the same time, there is a warm emotional plot that was handled maturely. It is a commercial film, but you don’t see too many logical loopholes.

Naga Chaitanya plays the central character and he’s particularly convincing when the palpable tension gets to him. Rao Ramesh might have played similar roles in the past yet you find this performance of his very fresh. It looked contrastingly different from his previous shows. He deserves a pat for always reinventing himself.

Revathi does a neat job with a refined articulation of emotions. Lavanya Tripathi and other supporting cast have given what the script demands with almost every character adding significance to the proceedings. With a prodigious young technical department that includes Pelli Choopulu fame Vivek Sagar for music and Niketh Bommi Reddy for cinematography, the end product exhibits high-quality standards. The music is atmospheric and engrossing.

Director Krishna Marimuthu has his reins tight when his focus is on moving the story forward with suspense and his narration and detailing in these segments give the film its strength. The first half is filled with romance and heart warming family emotions whereas the later half rides more on action and suspense.

Running over just 2 hours YS doesn’t exactly race along, but it has moments to keep you entertained throughout. One might feel the climax portion was slightly draggy and conventional.

Verdict: A well-made film that’s high on emotion and action
