Vinci Raj talks about Kaala's posters that he designed

Poster designer Vinci Raj in an exclusive interaction with Behindwoods spoke a lot about Kaala. Check this out.

What did you try to convey from the poster (the one where Rajini sits on a Jeep)

“I wanted to showcase the life of the people who live in Dharavi. I did not want to show it in a negative and ugly way but the beautiful side of it. I wanted to portray the fact that even people in Dharavi lead a happy and contented life just like others.”

Anything more to add up to the much talked about poster?

“All the shots in the poster were shot exclusively for that. Our team went to Dharavi and shot all these photos. We had around 60 posters and we zeroed down to 30 to 32 photos.”

That smirk on Rajini’s face, was that extracted or did he do it all by himself?

“He knows brother, before going for the shoot. He listens to everything keenly and he takes it to a different level.”

What did Rajinikanth say after the posters?

“I did not talk to Rajini sir. After Ranjith showed the poster to Thalaivar, and when he came outside, he called me and said, Rajini sir was extremely happy (bayangara happy). I was on cloud nine when I heard that.

About the 2nd poster? The ferocious one! Can you tell us the backstory about that poster?

“We decided beforehand how the shot should be like how sand should sparkle on Rajini sir's face. When we shot that photo, I was a little scared on how he would react to applying sand on his face. So I asked Ranjith to stick some sand on his face. But Rajini sir made us all feel so comfortable. We actually shot 3 photos for that look and selected the one which was less ferocious (Just imagine how the other ones would be).”

How many posters can we expect from you with regard to Kaala?

“We have released 2 till now, there are 8 more to come”.
