Music: Vijay Antony

Lyrics: Thamarai, Vaali, Na. Muthukumar, Viveka, Kabilan

Vedi directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Vishal's home banner is the remake of Telugu film Souryam. Vishal pairs up with Sameera Reddy for the flick. Vijay Antony has scored the music for the film. Let’s see whether the Prabhu Deva - Vijay Antony combination has come up with something out of the box for a mass entertainment.

Enna Aachi...
Singers:  Vijay Yesudas, Janaki Iyer
Lyrics:
Thamarai

The first track of 'Vedi', is a delightful, soft, charming melody intended to captivate the listeners. Vijay Yesudas and Janaki Iyer have sung in a most heartwarming manner. Vijay Antony has shown his melodious side in trying to bring back the flavor of old-world charm. Thamarai's simple lyrics have done more justice to the song. A sure shot hit number that will reserve a soft spot in our hearts.

Ichu Ichu...
Singers: Vijay Antony, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Lyrics:  Vaali

This track is a fun-filled, simple rustic folklore that is pleasant on the ears and not jarring as the tempering is not overboard as in most Vijay Antony's songs. Besides crooning the number himself, he once again opts for his favorite singer Sangeetha Rajeshwaran to execute the job. The lyrics have jovial teasing-pleasing words, which  gel with the catchy musical arrangements. Overall it’s an enlightening youthful number that is adding vibrancy to the album.

Ippadi Mazhai...
Singers: Karthik, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Two extremely talented artists, Karthik and Saindhavi, come together for 'Ippadi Mazhai' song and deliver a flawless performance to the just mediocre composition. There is a heard before feel to the song. Especially the humming 'Oh ho' is kind of outdated and does not mix with Vijay Antony's stylized experimentation. The lyrics are way too filmy and this rain song fails to make an impact.

Bombay Ponnu . . .
Singers:  Mamta Sharma, MLR. Karthikeyan, Senthildas
Lyrics: Viveka

It's Mamta Sharma, the new find of Vijay Antony, who returns fresh from the super-hit 'Munni Badnaam' song from the Salman starrer blockbuster 'Dabangg'. Her husky voice is the highlight of this highly Bollywood inspired number. Hindi verses mixed with Tamil lyrics add to the rustic mood. With some amazing choreography from Prabhu Deva, it might be a hip-shaking bonanza.

Kadhalikka . .
Singers:Emcee Jesz, Naresh Iyer, Andrea Jeremiah, Rap Vocals Sharmila
Lyrics: Kabilan

Vijay Antony rounds off this album, with an above average 'kadhalikka' number. It has an array of singers - Emcee Jesz, Naresh Iyer, Andrea Jeremiah and Sharmila who display their brilliance effectively. The music arrangement is western, classic and rap fusion. The song is quite entertaining and will be loved by Vijay Antony's fans.

To conclude, Vedi has come up with five tracks, out of which, two songs are quite good - 'Enna Aachi' and 'Ichu Ichu'. However, the only sore point is that a chartbuster which one would normally expect out of the Prabhu Deva and Vijay Antony combination is missing.

Verdict: Vedi - Music not explosive enough
