The male protagonist of the film was initially supposed to be played by Dhanush, but then the role landed on the then promising actor, Bharath. The performance was a huge departure from the urban characters he played in earlier films (the notable one being Bob Galey alias Baba Kalyani from Boys). The rugged and unpolished performance is still Bharath’s best till date.
