Started by AV Meiyappan in the year 1946, AVM is one of the oldest production houses in the country. Right from Naam Iruvar to the latest Vettaikaran, AVM studios have never shown signs of slowing down. They can take pride in introducing so many talents to the cinema industry and producing movies which have been classics. A brand with whom any director or actor would be proud to be associated with, AVM studios is probably the first to invest big in cinema. Their production Sivaji, starring Rajini, was made at a cost of nearly Rs. 65 crore which was the costliest Indian movie at that time. It is currently owned by M Saravanan and his son, MS Guhan.
