Kamal Haasan’s Nandu in Aalavandhan suffers from extreme psychosis and is delusional and so he is confined in a mental asylum. It was a powerful performance from Kamal and though it wandered into bizarre territory, Aalavandhan had a heart and a soul. It was also one of the first films to discuss the consequences of childhood abuse and neglect.
