This is a very rare scene where two actors of high caliber gave top notch performances. Kamal was literally living the role of Avvai Shanmughi, the ‘patti’ appointed to take care of his own daughter. Delhi Ganesh as the nosey doubting Thomas gave what is perhaps one of the funniest performances of his career. Out to find out the complete whereabouts of Shanmughi, he follows her. But, Shanmughi is too smart and also (much to his bewilderment) much quicker and gymnastic than him. She jumps over walls, runs fast and eludes his efforts to find out her real identity. At the end of it all, Delhi Ganesh finds it too hot to handle, getting into trouble.
