Releasing solo over the Good Friday weekend in Tamil Nadu, Paiyaa went on to become a superhit grossing 35 crores in the 7 weeks of its running. It did not get glowing reviews but Karthi and Tamannah’s chemistry seemed to have worked well in favour of the movie.
